“I get up every day with some new fire burning in me about what I want to create,” says Anne Doolittle. “I can't keep up with the ideas.”
Anne creates by taking realistic and abstracted images and painting them onto a wooden panel that has been collaged with discarded and distressed materials. Newspaper and consumer packaging are torn, scraped, and sanded then painted over. “The presence of newsprint speaks to our obsession with staying informed, while the presence of natural elements speaks to our desire for a peaceful alternative to what we are learning.
“The work compares the natural and the man-made. It celebrates the accidental beauty found in destruction alongside the given beauty of nature's creation.”
