New to Artclectic

“I've wanted to be an artist my entire life,” says Caleigh. “But, at 45 years old, I finally let go of my fear of failure and rejection and trusted in the process of creation.”

Caleigh paints intuitively using acrylic paint, oil pastels, and other mediums to create colorful and bold layers and shapes on canvas, paper, and wood. The end result is representational of a vibrant conversation.

“Human connection (to each other, to nature, to spirituality, and to ourselves) is what inspires me to create. The need to express internal thoughts and feelings that can’t be communicated with words is also what inspires me to create.”

Get to know Caleigh better:
What is the most important thing you wanted viewers to take away from your art?

That abstract art isn't meant to be understood; it's meant to be felt, to elicit a response - positive or negative, exciting or boring...anything is better than nothing. I want viewers to feel something in their bodies when they view my work. And if it gets them thinking, then even better!

Describe your dream art project.

To create an entire body of work for an 18th century home in Upstate NY or a coastal cottage in Northern California.

Titles of works can be descriptive or clever or totally unrelated. What’s your favorite title of a piece you’ve named?

I did a series of paper pieces called “Odd Birds” and I loved them and the title because that's what I feel like most days: an odd bird. They were colorful and messy and playful, yet intentional and beautiful.
