“All of my work starts on the wheel and it’s a physical process that never gets stale or boring,” says Craig McMillan. In fact, opening up the kiln inspires him for the next round of ideas and experiments.
“There are always many somethings that need to get done in a one man studio and whatever I’m drawn to accomplish that day I want to bring joy to it, so most days I go with what is calling me.
“I alter my pieces at the end of the day to give them a more organic flow. I continue the process of control and allowing random effects to come into fruition. The clay piece is my canvas and the glazes are my paint, but it’s all done in an abstract state of mind because I allow the unexpected to come into the process.”
