“I love the capability of an abstract painting to surprise the viewer at every engagement,” says Harry Whitver. “I love the emergence of an idea, the process of creation and the satisfaction of a competent result, most of the time.”
Harry spent his career as a commercial illustrator, working as a combat artist for the Navy in Vietnam. He then began a tour of duty as an illustrator under the guiding hand of Bob Hitt at Illustration Design Group in the '70s.
“I have a lifelong interest in fine art painting and an opportunity to work in that field upon retirement.
My father, a registered nurse, brought home the yellow paper that Kodak x-ray film came packaged in, plus all the pencils I could desire. Off I went at age 6.

I do enjoy collaborating with my English scholar wife on naming work. My favorite of hers is "Schrodinger's Cat" and of mine is "Picnic Time for Thermophiles".
