For more than 20 years, Judy Bolton Jarrett was a school teacher. Then she decided to try her hand at art as a full-time second career. “I've never looked back,” Judy proudly states. She opened a small studio and gallery in an historic building. “I just celebrated my 30th year at that location! My little studio/gallery is my creative oasis.”

Judy’s art style and mediums have morphed over the years from impressionistic watercolors to acrylics and mixed media. “My paintings now might be described as abstract impressionism; some of the art is created by going with my instincts in a random fashion, not exactly sure where I will finish. Other times I use reference material as my guide, especially when I'm doing commissioned work. My mixed media pieces are purely gut instinct... usually no great plan in mind.”

What is your greatest extravagance?

jewelry (from Walton's in Franklin, TN - wishing mostly, but sometimes indulging myself!)

What do you consider to be your greatest achievement?

I'm not sure that it is an "achievement" but it is that I keep in touch with many of my students from my teaching days, and some of them have become my art collectors and supporters. Of course, being a grandmother to the two finest grandchildren in the universe (and they live in Nashville!).

What is your motto?

Happiness is a choice.
