“I am usually working on about 5-10 paintings at any given time,” says Lizzy Love. “And, I love to spend a couple of days pulling magazine clippings, and doing a ton of sketches to get a body of work spinning in my head before starting on the canvas. I often tear figures from my sketch pages and collage them with magazine clippings of furniture and patterns to get my vision for what the piece will be on canvas.
“I love the freedom of being able to let a painting become what it wants once I'm working, vs. having to stick to a rigid ‘plan’. Sometimes I draw from my own experiences as a woman, and especially as a mother, to really connect with my figures and what they represent; but often I draw from the inspiring women both in my life, and that I read about in pages of books. I love reading books on empowering, uplifting women, and bringing that energy to the canvas.”
