Armed with a B.A. in graphic design with a studio art focus, Omari Booker now has many roles…curator, youth organizer, painter, 2D media instructor.

He describes his art as thought provoking, colorful, and bold. “Art is my path to peace and freedom. The therapeutic and spiritual outlet is the focus of my creative process,” Omari explains. “Art comes alive when there is a viewer. I am grateful for the viewers that will activate the artwork.”

There has been a change in Omari’s work since the pandemic began. “I have created more relational pieces. I have focused on people’s ability to connect physically. It has been a really challenging time in the world, but my personal creative practice has benefitted from the time and space.”

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Being fully at peace with whatever the present circumstance is.

What is your greatest extravagance?

Definitely shoes! If you asked how many pairs, I'd have to count twice to get close to an accurate number:)

What do you consider to be your greatest achievement?

I'm grateful for where I am. That feels like an achievement.
