Steffon Hamulak likes to finish things. “I love the visual excitement and pride I get from seeing a finished, framed work. It is my inspiration for the process of creating. The creative process is momentary in nature but the finished work is forever.”
He works primarily with acrylic paints and texture mediums on canvas. “My point of view has been described as ‘painting in reverse’ whereas I apply liberal layers of paint, first using a chaotic stream of conscience method followed by very deliberate ‘re-covering’ with either solid white or black, or shades thereof. Further layers of more focused color and subsequent re-covering are then added to give a 3D vision of paint ‘bursting through a canvas’ to create visual images often unique to each viewer.”
"Buffalo Soldier" - I typically name my pieces after song titles (not always, but mostly). This piece in particular... could be hung two different ways and depending on which way, you saw either the Buffalo or the Soldier.
Vincent Van Gogh (classic) - Harold Kraus (modern day). Both are visually stunning in their use of strong, bold color.
Travelling. I spend my disposable income on seeing as much as I can. Experiencing as many places as I can get to, and returning to revisit and dive deeper into my favorites.
