New to Artclectic

“I was inspired by my mom who was an artist and have been creative most of my life,” says Amanda. “My decision to shift my creative career to fine art painting was the desire to create works of art that were heirloom quality that captured meaningful nostalgic memories for the art collector to enjoy in their homes.

She captures this ‘joyful nostalgia’ through bold brushstrokes and vibrant professional quality acrylic paint on canvas and panel.

“I love to visit flea markets and vintage stores to find old toys, cookbooks and dishes, banana seat bikes, board games and other items with bold colors and interesting typography.”

Get to know Amanda better:
Titles of works can be descriptive or clever or totally unrelated. What's your favorite title of a piece you've named?

I love the title “Long Conversations” for a painting I created of a vintage rotary telephone with a coiled up extremely long cord. It captures the memory of pulling the receiver a long way down the hall to have a “private” long conversation!

In terms of your art, where is the most inspirational place you've ever been?

For researching ideas for subject matter, I find a lot of inspiration at antique stores and vintage shops. For style and technique, the most inspirational place I have visited is France. I enjoyed an art trip to France with my mom and a group of plein air painters, painting in St. Malo, visiting Monet’s home and gardens, and the museums in Paris. I was most inspired by the Musée Marmottan Monet and how closely I could view Monet’s brushwork on his large scale canvases. It inspired me to paint looser and more expressively.

Describe your dream art project.

I feel like I am already creating my dream art project when I am commissioned to paint a beloved banana seat bike or a favorite toy from childhood.
