Mixed Media 2D “My artwork is rooted in science and its manipulation to create art,” explains Eric Beauchamp. “I was introduced to a process that existed as a physics experiment and was fascinated by the natural patterns. The process was used to explain a natural process and was never developed with an eye to the esthetic. I took that challenge on and re-engineered the process to manipulate and construct the burns to incorporate the artistic.”
Eric bends and manipulate 15,000 volts of electricity to create artwork that is a testament to the interplay between order and chaos, science and art, and the endless possibilities of creative exploration.

What do you want people to feel or think when they see your work?
People connect with my artwork in so many ways and that's what I truly love. What people see or feel when viewing my artwork will change depending on their life experiences, education and interests. Over ten years of sharing my artwork I have heard scores of different interpretations of my work and every single one is correct.
How do you know when a piece is finished?
There is a moment when you see all the elements come together and it speaks to you. But you better be listening, spending hours staring at every minute detail in your work can trap you into endless revisions and changes. When I feel that the piece is complete I will leave the piece for a week and return with a fresh set of eyes to see if I still feel that way.
Titles of works can be descriptive or clever or totally unrelated. What's your favorite title of a piece you've named?
For me, naming artwork is a challenge. Unlike many artists who use titles to reinforce their inspiration, I do my best to do the opposite. Because people connect with my work in so many ways I do not want to influence their interpretation. I dip heavily into the world of science to create my titles.
