Painting “My work reflects my love of color and the subjects I choose reflect my love of childhood, nostalgia, and shiny objects,” says Gina Julian. “I'm also an extremely detail-oriented person, so I take pride in creating art that is realistic enough to make someone look twice because they can't believe it's a painting!”
Gina creates realistic acrylic and oil paintings on wood panels that are cut to the shape of the subject matter.
“I’m constantly inspired by everyday objects that most people never give a second thought about. Objects like balloons, bows, and even food can seem magical when the scale is increased and they are turned into pieces of art.”

What prompted you to become an artist?
I co-created Nashville Arts Magazine back in the early 2000s and had the chance to look at a lot of art and meet a lot of gallerists and artists in the process. This inspired me to eventually take the leap from making art as a hobby to making art full-time in early 2017.
What do you want people to feel or think when they see your work?
I want them to be amazed and amused, and I want them to think of the joy that art can bring them on a daily basis!
In terms of your art, where is the most inspirational place you’ve ever been?
I'd have to say that my art is predominantly inspired by all the corner markets where I would buy candy as a child. These days I can find a lot of those nostalgic treats at a local Cracker Barrel or candy store.
