“I'm inspired by the simple things that bring me joy, the first and foremost being happy color,” says Gina Julian. “I also have a love of shiny objects as well as food (mostly sweet stuff) and so those things tend to work their way into my art.”
A working artist for nine years, Gina creates 2D photorealistic artwork. “My trompe l'oeil paintings are created on ¾ inch thick wood that is cut to the shape of the subject matter, then painted with many layers of acrylic paint to achieve a realistic look.”
"Adrenaline Junkie"
"Adrenaline Junkie" has to be my favorite title. It perfectly sums up my love of speed as well as my obsession with high voltage color combinations.
I love painting macarons and had the opportunity to visit La Durée this past spring. I bought a box (or two) and plan to make a painting series of them one day in the future!
I would love to have an art practice like Wayne Thiebaud. He painted simple, everyday things with all the colors of the rainbow. He also painted almost every day of his life and I can't think of a better way to spend my days!
