“I enjoy taking a piece of nature and finding out what is inside,” says Charlie Hunt, the sculpture behind JW Hunt Stoneworks. “My process is rooted in the natural form of each piece. I let the shape of the stone or the grain of the wood guide the final outcome. My sculptures carry a primitive, organic quality that honors the raw material while inviting interpretation.”
Charlie’s mediums include limestone, granite, marble, and old-growth hardwood. He uses stone mallets, chisels, hydraulic tools, and some sandblasting to create his pieces.
Now a working artist for 30+ years, “what started as function (bird baths) became form as I explored textures and techniques.”
There is more than one right answer, enjoy the journey.

I don't title my pieces. I leave that to the collector. Everyone sees something different.
