“I am inspired by colors in nature and interiors, always on the hunt for unexpected color combinations,” says Lacey Craig Hooper. “The bold patterns created in the ribbon series are inspired by life's twists and turns. Life's journey rarely goes in a straight line, but what comes from the unexpected makes a beautiful picture, and one worth celebrating!”

Lacey creates bright, colorful, patterned works, playing with light and texture. The ribbon collection is made with acrylics on cradled birch panels, then finished with resin to make it shine. She describes her work as “vibrant and colorful, evoking passion and playfulness.”

What advice would you give to a young artist just starting out?

Try everything. Find a couple of things you really love doing and make a ton of those. Really hone your skills.

How do you know when a piece is finished?

When the colors are really coming together.
