“I’ve always loved creating and having a creative outlet in every season of life and decided to pursue art full time in 2020,” says Rhymes Stabler. “It has been such a joy and I have loved learning, creating, and connecting with artist friends ever since.”
Rhymes interweaves antique ledger paper, Italian paper, French Ink, oil pastel, watercolor, chalk, and acrylic to culminate in works of depth and versatility for traditional and contemporary interiors.
“Grounded in color and guided by both structure and spontaneity, I create works that blend classical reference with contemporary abstraction in hopes of creating peaceful works of art. Nature serves as my steady inspiration through light shifting across water or the curve of a leaf...I am inspired by the quiet ordinary strength found in the natural world as an invitation to remain anchored to peace myself.”

What advice would you give to a young artist just starting out?
Just start! Each person is uniquely gifted with the way they see beauty in the world and how they can reflect and amplify that beauty in art. I would encourage young (or old) aspiring artists to just start by creating one thing each day. It doesn't have to be a fully finished piece for the world to see yet, but simply getting started can be the hardest part.
What do you want people to feel or think when they see your work?
I would want to give people a space to pause and breathe—a reminder that beauty, in its simplest form, is all around us offering space for restoration and refuge.
In terms of your art, where is the most inspirational place you’ve ever been?
I love the color and simple elegance everywhere in Italy but being outside anywhere is the true answer. There is always so much inspiration everywhere when we slow down and notice.
