“My passion for art grew from a lifelong love of drawing, a deep appreciation for the beauty and intricacy of creation, and a desire to create work that is both meaningful and lasting,” says Richard Bowers.
He uses a semi-traditional drawing method to create contemporary realistic works on paper. Richard’s drawings are primarily graphite and highly detailed.
“My work reflects my internal dialogue in many ways. Though my life is now hectic, I still long to slow down and notice beauty - especially the beauty that is overlooked or unappreciated.”
I never really do. I just have to stop or starve.
I spent several weeks with some Haitian orphans many years ago and their faces (and hearts) are some of the most captivating I’ve ever seen.
My titles are simple. Either descriptive of the work or the idea that inspired it. One of my favorites is “the birthing tree” - I didn’t give the tree its name, but I kept it for the title of my drawing simply because it’s such an interesting and odd name for a tree.
