“I feel called to follow the creative impulse,” notes Ryan Kapp. “In doing so, I contribute a small part to a larger collective of creative energy - one that holds the potential to enrich our lives in meaningful ways.”
Ryan creates ceramics that are made from mid-fire stoneware, using both wheel-thrown and hand-built techniques. He applies decorative elements in underglaze and functional surfaces are finished with food-safe glazes. Ryan’s work is “a gathering and synthesis of images, colors, forms and designs that speak to me.”

When I feel like I might be starting to rework something I've already done.
Titles of works can be descriptive or clever or totally unrelated. What’s your favorite title of a piece you’ve named?
"Here and Somewhere Else." Music is a source of endless inspiration for me. Sometimes a song lyric or title I hear fits perfectly with a piece of mine, that's true for this title of a song that I used for an earlier painting of mine. In the painting a skater is pushing down the street, and there's something about him being here on his board, on this street, but also somewhere else in an interior sense.
