“I love all things southern,” Amy Crews says. “My roots have definitely made an impact in my work. I have a genuine appreciation of its culture and people. I love a good story, the slow pace and the beautiful scenery."
In fact, she is inspired by a sense of wonder and the beauty that surrounds us and is often overlooked.
“I also believe everyone should have art that holds meaning in their home. Whether it's a story of the inspiration behind it, the artist’s connection or the subject that is personal in some unique way. Art can be a wonderful conversation piece and if done well, can last for generations. I use archival materials for this reason."
"Hail Mary"
Without fail, a painting is finished in the nick of time and often loaded in the van while it's still wet before it's taken along to Nashville for an art show. It's like that ball that goes through the net when the buzzer sounds at the end of a game. And it sold. (This has happened twice...there have been two Hail Marys.)
My first impulse response is my magic hat. Santa left it for me under the tree one year and I think I mastered all the tricks and loved to put on shows.
There have been many, but two that I think of most would be the Lower Antelope Canyons in Page, Arizona and seeing the blue ghost fireflies in the Blue Ridge Mountains on a very dark night after a hike to see them at their peak. It was other worldly! Can't recommend them enough if you haven't been!
