Amy is inspired by “life, to put it simply.”
A professional full time artist for 24 years, Amy uses archival materials and techniques similar to those used by the masters. She paints with oil in thin layers to achieve depth and details that results in contemporary realism. “I also enjoy drawing with pencil and painting with watercolors. Really, anything that will make a mark.
“Colors, details typically unnoticed, people, nature...we are surrounded by beauty and I think it brings me joy and gives me purpose to help others see things they may not have noticed or to provide a reason to pause and reflect.”
Every person and place offers a gift of inspiration. We just need to notice it. The times of the strongest inspiration have been tied to people who have shared their story with me or made an impact on my life. Some conversations can feel holy that way. And they stir in me such a strong urge to write or paint that it won't leave me alone until I have done so.
"Hail Mary". The last painting done just before times up for a show...often times a wet painting rests on the top of the packed car on the road. And they'll sell. So, we paint until deadlines again.
Film. To collaborate with a creative ensemble to create something beautiful that calls upon all the senses and stirs the soul. Music, written word, beautiful imagery. Art is so powerful and can change the world when used thoughtfully.
