Life inspires Amy Crews to create.
“Colors, details typically unnoticed, people, nature...we are surrounded by beauty and I think it brings me joy and gives me purpose to help others see things they may not have noticed or to provide a reason to pause and reflect.”
Amy uses archival materials and techniques similar to those used by the masters. She paints with oil in thin layers to achieve depth and details that results in contemporary realism.
“Art is a refuge and I find solace and comfort in a quiet studio where I lose track of time and outside worries. I think my work reflects a peaceful and closer, detailed view of the ordinary. A lot similar to how I am with all things and even with relationships.”
It’s just what I was made to do. My mom was very encouraging. I think in part because she regretted not pursuing her artistic gifts.
Just after the most fun part of the process, when I add final touches, highlights and details. It’s hard to stop then but I know how easy it is to over work a piece by not stopping at the right time. That’s a great question!
Any good art store. I want to buy and try every art supply and medium they have! I often wish there were only more hours in the day because I’d love to work with pottery and jewelry. I love all crafts.
