“I have grown from a realistic approach to landscape painting to an abstracted approach to making art based on landscape,” says Andi. “I am inspired by the beauty of the landscape and the colors of nature with the interplay of light.
“I work intuitively, spontaneously and emotionally so that a viewer will feel my emotional response rather than a recreation of that which they, themselves can see. I use a limited palette with emphasis on color relationships trying to impart a sense of calm and peace through my work in these most chaotic times while staying true to myself which I hope translates to others.”
A working artist for more than 40 years, Andi says “I never really thought of anything else. It’s always been my passion.”

In terms of your art, where is the most inspirational place you’ve ever been?
I get inspiration from doing a lot of traveling. On the southeast coast of England is an art town called Margate where the Tate Museum has built a JMW Turner museum as JMW Turner painted a lot of his very atmospheric landscapes in and around the area. Though my color choice is more inspired by Sante Fe, New Mexico, the atmospheric nature of my abstracted landscapes is very Turner inspired.
Titles of works can be descriptive or clever or totally unrelated. What’s your favorite title of a piece you’ve named?
"Tales of Topographic Oceans" which is the title of a Yes album from the early 1970's...I connected with the title because the album is symbolic and is very abstract as is the painting I titled. The title could be a metaphor for the uncharted depths of the human experience like the unexplored bottom of the ocean.
