New to Artclectic
“Art-making is critical to the essence of my being,” says Barbara Hodges, a family physician and self-taught artist. “I am inspired to create by the different aspects of the human conditions and the states of mind of both the individual and the collective. My love and respect for life inspires me to capture life as it passes by through painting. The beauty of the human race is boundless.
“I discovered at a very young age the love of painting. Due to lack of funds to get art supplies, I used the red clay outside to draw pictures with a stick. I learned to make the most out of what I had available e.g., bottle tops, woods, clay, etc. Therefore, as an artist, I enjoy the freedom to use my creativity, vision, and knowledge to experiment with different techniques and mediums.”
An ‘artistic story teller’, Barbara loves to weave a story around her art. “I want my subjects and objects to have a strong impact on the viewer. I believe the viewer has a right to contribute to the art work. I hope and desire for my artistic works to provide an active dialogue with the art audience.”
Sharing the Arts with youth, seniors, and my patients in my community.
I love buying art books, art supplies, and being able to create art each day.
"Just Keep Living" despite the highs and lows of life.
