“As a husband and wife team, the collaborative nature of glass art drives each design that we make,” say Blaine and Sam.
The precise nature of Sam's skill in blowing glass, combined with Blaine's love for color and experimentation, creates work which is both playful and unique, and made to the highest degree of quality. Their goal as a team is to create objects that bring joy to the home, or wherever they may be.
Working with blown and solid glass, Blaine and Sam use Venetian-American techniques alongside experimental Czech style casting to create functional glassware, decorative objects, and thought provoking sculpture.
“Our hope is that people see the time, skill, and effort into each piece of our work.”
Newfoundland, Canada. Blaine has family there and spent her summers going up there with her grandparents and cousins. We went there last summer and truly fell in love with the landscape, culture, and people. Our dream is to spend months there in the summer, both exploring and making work.
“Dragon Eggs”. The pieces use the optical qualities of glass and reference the egg shape in its variety. Blaine came up with the name and we thought it was perfect for the series.
Sam, a former college football player at Centre College, and Blaine pursuing marine biology at Salisbury University, both stumbled upon glass as an art form independently in school and fell in love with the process. The material requires teamwork, communication, and patience, all of which play big roles in our life together. After traveling around the country pursuing opportunities in glass they met in Pittsburgh almost four years ago and immediately began working together.
