New to Artclectic
“I was born and raised in Florida so I have a deeply ingrained affinity for the ocean,” says Christina Kwan. “I think I've always looked out at the sea and known that I was made for a different kind of life and world than what was given to me, sort of like the little mermaid! I've always harbored that deep sense of longing as an undercurrent in the content of my paintings.”
Christina says she can be inspired by almost anything and everything surrounding her. “I'm most often moved by the organic rhythms of nature and how it recycles and regenerates itself. Nature is sort of like a starting point to begin thinking about our internal worlds and how they shift and change as well. I'm also inspired by the art of others - film and music in particular.”
"Everything I Tried To Contain"
This title really sort of applies to the whole of my art practice. When I paint, it's basically like spilling my soul onto a blank canvas so it's like here I am, here is the insides of me, and I simply couldn't contain it anymore.
