Mixed Media 2D “I create beauty using items saved from build sites, barns and city streets,” proclaims Dayo. “Making the old new again.”
Memories of my childhood, nature and music inspire Dayo to create. But, her inspiration to become an artist in the first place is her late aunt, Pauline Nelson, who lived and worked as a professional artist in Saint Louis, Missouri.
Using rescued materials and acrylic paint, Dayo hopes that viewers will find “a feeling of hope, heritage, triumph and inspiration.”

Describe your dream art project.
I have always wanted to work with Prince in some capacity. I reckon I will now dream to work with his estate in the future.
In terms of your art, where is the most inspirational place you’ve ever been?
Anywhere outdoors, especially the country. I feel so grounded and refreshed there.
Titles of works can be descriptive or clever or totally unrelated. What’s your favorite title of a piece you’ve named?
“Cynthia Rose”, named after the subject of one of my favorite Prince songs, “Starfish and Coffee”.
