“I am always inspired by nature: the vastness of it, the order that lives alongside chaos, the multitude of colors,” says Meghan. “The natural world is full of textures and patterns that interest me and inform my ceramic work. In my ceramic pieces, I utilize textures and colors found in nature and accentuate sculptural qualities of the piece and the final form as it intuitively falls.
“I am also inspired by studying other artists’ work that came before me and learning the evolution of art history through the centuries. The evolution of ideas and techniques drives me to create new ideas while still respecting the knowledge of the past.”

In terms of your art, where is the most inspirational place you've ever been?
Italy!! I had the opportunity to study for a few months in Florence, the birthplace of the Renaissance. Beauty and artistic excellence are an inherent part of the Italian culture.
Titles of works can be descriptive or clever or totally unrelated. What's your favorite title of a piece you've named?
I have titled my collections based on the inspiration found from nature. My Flourish collection looks floral-like with petals unfurling as a blossom would bloom in nature.
Describe your dream art project.
I would like to create large installation pieces.
