“I spent more than half my life in a tour bus, traveling the US and the world playing rock and roll with my brothers,” begins Jacob Olds. “My love of music, the icons that have been so influential in the industry as well as culture, and the designers who dressed them, have become what define my current art.”
From a young age, Jacob loved to draw, mostly pencil. After designing a pen and ink album cover, his art settled in the form of mixed media - pen and ink with watercolor and acrylic. To maximize the experience of the art on paper, Jacob rarely uses any glass or conservation acrylic in framing, and mounts watercolor paper to birch, applying several coats of varnish to protect the art.

I have a great deal of respect for Andy Warhol, as far as the color, composition and simplicity of his art. As far as being someone else, I'm pretty happy being who I am and creating in my lane.
In my late teens and early 20s I worked for a production company setting up huge shows, so I got to work closely with iconic artists, setting up their wardrobe cases, etc. I got a firsthand behind the scenes look at their personal style and stage persona, and it sparked my creativity.
I do like humor. I have a Hank Williams piece this year as a horse named "Neigh, Good Lookin'" after his iconic song "Hey, Good Lookin'".
