James Threalkill is inspired by “my appreciation of life and my passion for art.”
This Emmy Award winning artist has been practicing his craft for 44 years. “My work is created with the use of acrylic paints and palette knives to generate textured surfaces and vibrant colors that enhance the subject matter and the aesthetic appeal to viewers.”
James has a history of working with youth in the Edgehill community, utilizing art as a tool for creative and educational development.
Soweto, South Africa. Created a mural with South African students and met with President Nelson Mandela.

It was a painting of a South African student studying the acoustic guitar.
Henry O. Tanner. He was my original inspiration as the first African American artist whose work I discovered.
