“My 12 year old neighbor encouraged me to try art when I was 35 years old,” explains Kelly Sullivan. “Who knew a stick man drawer could be an artist one day!!”
Kelly has been a working artist for ten years now. Her large-scale floral sculptures are created with fabric and plaster, forming dimensional works that highlight depth, movement, and light.
“My work is inspired by the desire to take something fleeting and give it lasting presence. Having spent years working with florals, I was drawn to the idea of reinterpreting them in a way that feels more permanent -- capturing their form through a sculptural process that allows them to live beyond the moment.”
Just start! If it’s something you find joy in keep working. Every artist has pieces they make they don’t like but we keep working past the disappoints till we find what makes our heart sing!
My work reflects the way I naturally see design. I’m drawn to movement, texture, and organic forms, and I enjoy exploring how sculptural pieces can transform a wall into something dimensional. Each piece is built by hand, allowing subtle variations that make every sculpture one of a kind.
I am also a floral designer specializing in weddings and events. Working with live florals on a regular basis really makes me see things that I can bring into some designs but I never intentionally make a specific flower.
