“I think my paintings are timeless in that I choose traditional subject matter but have my own unique perspective that comes across in my brushwork and color choices,” says Lauren.
She considers many variables as inspiring her art. “I love to travel so that is big part of my inspiration -- but when I'm not traveling I tend to be seasonal with my work. In the winter I do more figure work, and recently a big collection of interiors. Once the sun is shining I'm painting the landscape or beachscape outside, or setting up a still life with the flowers from my yard.”
Renting a house in Provence for a month and being able to paint en plein air every day!
That's hard -- but I think Cape Cod -- I go every summer and it's where I do the most plein air work and feel surrounded by other artists and amazing art.
I love to use song titles -- and my all time favorite is a large painting (48x48) of chickens roaming in green grass and it was titled "All The Single Ladies." Still the best.
