New to Artclectic

“The joy of solving visual challenges in a beautiful way excites me,” says Lynn. "I love the surprise I feel and inspire in the viewers when my work is encountered. It is a unique experience that provokes the regular response of ‘Wow! That's so COOL! I've never seen anything like that!’

“Realistic to representational to abstract -- my works merge contemporary design with a reverence for the techniques of the past. I combine digital photography, painting, hand stitched fiber thread, and beads.”

Lynn has been a working artist for 18 years. “I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts when I was 21 and what prompted me then changed when I resumed painting at 50. I continue to BECOME an artist and what drew me back, what prompted me, was finally having the time to explore who I had become as a person and artist. I gained a more mature point of view and approach to my images as I have a settledness of spirit that invites a peace and perspective I didn't have at 21.”

Get to know Lynn better:
In terms of your art, where is the most inspirational place you’ve ever been?

Yellowstone National Park. The experience I had seeing the profound beauty of Yellowstone evoked in me surprise, delight and awe – a sensation I try to evoke in those that view my artworks.

Describe your dream art project.

My concept is based upon the patterns created when solving Word Search puzzles and incorporating an interactive component via the use of a QR Code. The words used in the puzzle would be descriptive of a location, a response to a question, a meaningful quote, and other ways where words can convey a thought or sentiment. I would create the puzzle using those words. Wherever letters intersect I would provide a “treatment;” meaning those spaces would contain a digital image and/or beading and stitching, that is salient to the overall theme of the puzzle. For example, let’s say I create an artwork titled “Compassion.” I would utilize words that I felt resonated with me when I think about what compassion means. The words would be supported by images at the intersections of various letters. For the viewer to find out my response to “Compassion,” they would scan the QR Code with their phone and the puzzle would come up for them to see all the words and solve the puzzle themselves or see automatically where those words are located.

What is the most important thing you wanted viewers to take away from your art?

Surprise and delight. The regular comments of "Wow! That's SO cool!" and "I've never seen anything like that before," are rays of light to my soul.
