“I am an oil painter of the moments-in-between,” explains Margaret. “Referencing old family photos of the everyday mundane and childhood memories, I create paintings that tell stories and evoke memories.”
Margaret looks to tell stories and bring up memories of the mundane moments of life that take on great significance with time. “I would like for viewers to tell stories and be prompted by their own memories.”
Margaret has been a working artist for nine years. She was prompted to become an artist because she found it easier to express herself with images “and so began drawing as a kid and later painting.”
“The Good Tea” which was a piece of two woman talking on a ferry. I liked how simply the slang “tea” conveyed the tone of the conversation.
I look for references of real people, in mundane moments of the past. My dream project would have those elements.
Art Institute of Chicago. Enormous amount of art from all genres and history (including woman).
