“My art is a reflection of who I am and the things I experience daily,” says Maya Turner. “As an epileptic, I display in my art, the cycles and changes that take place in the brain after a seizure.”
A working artist for more than 20 years, Maya uses a hand held gouge to carve detailed designs of people, animals and abstract designs into wood. “I paint the carved wood with bright and bold colors that highlight beauty and culture.”
