“Art found me before I even knew what to call it,” muses Nadine. “It started as a quiet way to process life, and over time, it became a language I couldn’t live without.”
Nadine’s pieces are inspired by the people and animals around her, life experiences, music, and current and historical events.
“I draw with charcoal and pastels on toned grey paper, letting the softness of shadow and texture guide each gesture. My larger pieces go deeper—they’re layered with reused materials like cloth, paper, and found objects. These fragments carry memory, weight, and history. Together, they tell stories that are both personal and collective, raw and refined.”
In 2022, my daughter and I spent a week in Paris. We went to Montmartre where we encountered an area filled with artists drawing and painting in a market. The reds were vivid and a violinist played music under a big tree. That was utopia for me. The ideal place to draw and get inspiration.
The most important thing I want people to take from my drawings is the honesty of personal expression—how emotion, memory, and identity show up in lines, shadows, and silence. My work is a visual diary, and I hope it encourages others to reflect on their own stories with the same vulnerability and truth.
“Pixelated Pose” is one of my collages which depicts a woman standing in a pose. Except for the woman’s face and hair, the entire piece is made up of squares of reused material. From a distance the artwork appears to be pixelated which is what inspired the name.
