Titles of works can be descriptive or clever or totally unrelated. What’s your favorite title of a piece you’ve named?
I’ve created many pieces related to wildlife and pop culture, and I love to give these pieces actual names to bring their images to life. Often, I will name them with something relative to the image itself. Recently, I created a variety of guitars, each named after its inspiration. The first one was inspired by BB King and named after his beloved “Lucille”. This guitar was pieced together from CD covers gathered over the years, along with a recent Rolling Stone magazine, Nashville Scene, and a Life magazine from circa 1960. That’s what I love about collage: the mix of culture and character all layered into the life of the art piece.
