What are the primary materials you use to create your art?
My pottery is made of a white stoneware, inlaid with blue clay. I use a variation on the Japanese Mishima technique to inlay the designs by first carving them freehand and then coating the pot in a contrasting color of slip, which fills the carved lines. I then cut off the layer of slip, leaving the color in the carved recesses only. This process leaves a soft, furrowed texture on the surface of each piece, producing one-of-a-kind pots that are designed to be both beautiful and practical.
