Jernicya Onyekwelu

Representation and my embracement of my African American identity along with my husband’s Nigerian African identity are the two main cultural references and components of my artwork. Through my creation of art within the categories of ceramics, drawing, 2-D mixed media, and painting, I purposely continue to showcase African and African American cultural identities. Through my artwork, I proudly represent the union of my culture and my husband’s culture.
