“I’m inspired by the quiet beauty of everyday life—especially the early signs of growth and the gentle magic of things just beginning,” says Camilla. “Much of that inspiration comes from my own backyard, where nature is constantly in a state of emergence—sprouting, unfurling, and reaching toward the light.

“I begin by photographing what stirs a sense of potential: a bloom just opening, a seedling pushing through soil, the curve of a petal not yet fully formed. These images inspire layered compositions that I paint, then transform into fabric. I wrap each piece around a gesso board using archival materials, allowing the work to evolve through intuition. Some remain spare and serene; others bloom with added paint, embellishments, or texture. Each piece becomes a small celebration of presence and creative possibility. No two are alike, but all invite you to pause and notice what’s quietly becoming.

“My hope is that you see something of yourself reflected here—a flicker of new energy, a whisper of change, or the beauty of simply beginning.”

Get to know Camilla better:
Describe your dream art project.

My dream projects include two immersive experiences: One is a gallery installation of surreal, miniature worlds—journeys into my subconscious that invite viewers to recall their own dreams and feel connected to a larger collective consciousness. The other is a collaborative textile space where the public helps cut, sew, and stitch my printed fabrics into evolving, sparkling works of art using found objects and shared stories.

What is the most important thing you wanted viewers to take away from your art?

I want my art to make people feel seen, valued, and connected. Through humor, beauty, and a touch of whimsy, I hope it sparks courage and joy.

In terms of your art, where is the most inspirational place you’ve ever been?

The most inspiring place for my art has always been my grandmother’s house in Milan, Tennessee—filled with the paintings, sculptures, and spirit of my Uncle Charles. The light, the music, the food, and our family gatherings there shaped my creative soul. I often call on the spirits of my uncle, my mother, and my grandmother when I create; they are the heart of my highest artistic self.
