“I’ve been driven to create as long as I can remember...so, not sure where it comes from,” says Kent Ambler, a working artist for 25 years. “My work in general is inspired by nature.
“I create original woodblock prints. I hand carve wood planks and hand mix all the inks. I print small editions of twenty or thirty on archival paper. I never reprint new editions of any of my work.”
Get to know Kent better:
Titles of works can be descriptive or clever or totally unrelated. What's your favorite title of a piece you've named? Why?
"A Little Bit Bad" which is in reference to my hound dog mix named Mr. Whipple.
Who is your favorite artist (other than yourself)? Why?
Buddy Snipe (an Alabama folk artist). I love the uninhibited simplicity of his work.
What is your greatest extravagance?
