Using wood, ink, and paper, Kent creates original woodblock prints. “I hand carve wood planks and hand mix all the inks. I print small editions of twenty or thirty on archival paper. I never reprint new editions of any of my work.”
Although Kent has been a working artist for 28 years, he feels that he was born to be an artist. Believing that art should be aesthetically pleasing, he is inspired to create by his everyday life and environment. “The woods and woodland animals,” Kent says. “The moon, my dogs, a night sky, and songbirds to name a few.”
Making artwork without the pressure to sell. I have many directions that I can't find the time to explore because I seem to always have a show approaching.
My work is about my everyday life so I would say just being at home on my twelve wooded acres.
